The latest advertisement in the brand's 'Truth About Vodka' campaign comes amid escalating tension in Ukraine, with pro-Russian forces extending their grip over towns in eastern Ukraine.

The company ran a full-page advertisement on the back of nationwide newspaper USA Today, referring to the conflict.

“Poland borders Ukraine,” the advertisement reads.

“Guess Putin will do anything to get closer to better vodka.”

Sobieski vodka is made in Poland and Hollywood actor Bruce Willis owns a 3.3 percent stake in the brand's French parent company Belvedere.

The vodka is named after King Jan Sobieski, the 17th century Polish monarch who repulsed the Ottoman army from the gates of Vienna. (nh)
