Unemployment down in March

Poland’s unemployment rate dropped from 13.9 percent in February to 13.5 percent in March, the Central Statistical Office announced on Thursday.

The number of officially registered unemployed persons amounted to 2.182 million at the end of March, dropping by 73,700 people on February’s figures. In year-on-year terms, unemployment dropped by 132,200 people, some 5.7 percent.

The highest unemployment rate was noted in the Warmian-Masurian and Kuyavian-Pomeranian regions, with 21.5 percent and 18.2 perent respectively. The lowest unemployment rate was found in Greater Poland and Masovia, with 9.6 percent and 11.1 percent respectively.

Meanwhile, in March, employers submitted 108,700 job offers to labour offices nationwide, up from 97,400 in February. (jb)
