The investments, which form part of the first PolSEFF programme since 2011, have managed to help companies in the SME sector reduce CO2 emissions by almost 100,000 tons and save energy consumption by 329GWh, the bank said.

“The results greatly exceeded our targets at the beginning of the project. Polish entrepreneurs are more keen on modernising their companies, investing in new solutions which reduce energy consumption.” said Malgorzata Kotanska, head of the PolSEFF programme.

According to the EBRD, the saved energy equates to the average annual needs of around 44,000 Polish households, while CO2 emission savings are the equivalent of 50,000 cars clocking up an annual 15,000 km. (jb)
