VIG confirmed in a statement that it has purchased 100 percent of the shares in Skandia Zycie, with the transaction concluded after the granting of regulatory approvals.

Skandia Zycie has been at large on the Polish market for over 14 years, and it conducts its sales through intermediaries such as banks and insurance brokers.

“In 2013 Skandia Poland recorded written premiums of around EUR 95 million, making it the number 17 on the Polish life insurance market,” VIG noted.

“Compared to the previous year, this represents an increase in local currency of approximately 3.8 percent.”

VIG is one of the biggest insurance groups in Central and Eastern Europe, with about 25,000 employees.
