Polish pay TV revenues climbing

Polish pay TV revenues will be the biggest in Eastern Europe in 2014, according to research by UK analysts Digital TV Research.

The European Digital TV Databook estimates that revenues for pay TV in Poland will reach 1.8 billion US dollars this year, making Poland the 6th most lucrative market in Europe.

The combined European revenues for pay TV in 2014 are estimated at 40.35 billion dollars, up from 36.87 billion dollars in 2010.

The UK (7.8 billion dollars) is expected to generate the largest revenues in 2014.

Compared with 2010, pay TV revenues in western Europe are tipped to grow by 5.9 percent from 31.9 billion dollars to 33.8 billion dollars 2014.

In Eastern Europe, the growth will be up by 32.2 percent to $6.5 billion, according to the report, although declines are expected in the Czech Republic and Romania. (nh)
