At present, mainly international companies advertise on Twitter's Polish accounts, as there is no office in Poland catering to potential clients.

Polish firms currently have to contact offices abroad in cities such as London, Paris or Madrid, if they are interested in ad spaces.

However, Ali Jafari, head of Twitter's European Sales department, has said that this will all change by the end of the year.

He told the Gazeta Wyborcza daily that Twitter will either open an office in Poland, or delegate the work to a firm already based in the country.

It has been estimated that there about 700,000 Twitter uses in Poland at present, but it is chiefly regarded as a PR tool for journalists and media outlets. (nh)
