However, the PBS marketing agency estimates that 64 percent of Polish holidaymakers will take their break in Poland this summer.

Jaroslaw Kalucki from the Travel Planet agency notes that the Greek islands represent the fastest growing market abroad, up 7 percent on 2013 to 30 percent.

The next most popular destination is Turkey (20 percent), followed by Egypt (15 percent), and Tunisia and Bulgaria (both at 10 percent).

Interest in trips to Greece has dropped by 4 percent, but Croatia is rising in popularity.

For Poles holidaying in their homeland this summer, the Baltic coast remains by far the most popular choice.

Jacek Janowski, deputy director of the Department of Regional Cooperation of the Polish Tourist Organisation, says that 60 percent of Poles holidaying in Poland will make for the Baltic. Meanwhile, 15 percent will head to the mountains and 10 percent to lakes. (nh)
