“It's an ideal time to gain new markets and widen the customer base,” Deputy Minister of the Economy Ilona Antoniszyn-Klik told the Puls Biznesu daily.

The paper notes that exports to Russia and Ukraine have fallen by 25 percent this year.

The ministry has pinpointed 11 countries which will be the focus of the 'Made in Poland' campaign: Azerbaijan, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Malaysia, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia.

Antoniszyn-Klik has confirmed that there will be trips to the countries concerned, in which contractors and journalists will be courted.

“In addition, there will be conferences focusing on the industries that we are supporting,” she said.

Poland's support for Ukraine's pro-EU revolution had a negative impact on trade relations with Russia, while instability in Ukraine has also taken its toll on Polish exports to the latter. EU officials have described Russia's block on EU pork products as retaliation for Kiev's abandonment of a Moscow-led Eurasian customs union. (nh)
