Millionaires multiplying in Poland

The number of Poles who declared earnings of over 1 million zloty (240,955 euro) in 2013 rose by 9 percent compared with 2012.

Over 14,700 Poles made a million in 2013, some 1200 more than in 2012.

According to data published by the Rzeczpospolita daily, 2500 of the millionaires are based in Warsaw alone.

The ratio of millionaires to non-millionaires was likewise highest in the central Mazowieckie region (of which Warsaw is the capital), with 75 millionaires to every 100,000 inhabitants.

In second place was the southern region of Malopolska (Krakow being the capital), with 42 millionaires to every 100,000 inhabitants.

At the bottom of the heap was the south eastern Lublin region, with 19 millionaires to every 100,000 residents.

Over the past seven years, the number of Polish millionaires has increased by 3000 people. (nh)
