Gazprom has complained that Poland, Slovakia and Hungary are selling Russian gas to Ukraine, in breech of sales agreements.

There is every reason to believe that Russian gas is being delivered to Ukraine that isn’t intended for them, but for other European customers,” Deputy Chairman of Gazprom Aleksandr Medvedev said on Friday.

The Russian gas giant claims that Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia have re-exported 1.7 billion cubic meters of Russian gas to Ukraine out of a total of 3.8 billion cubic meters imported from Russian over the last two years.

Russia stopped gas flows to Ukraine in June over a dispute over debt and gas prices.

The Ukrainian government says it needs 20 billion cubic meters of natural gas to get through the winter. (pg)
