Warsaw’s Chopin airport grows most in EU

The Frederic Chopin airport in Warsaw saw the largest rise in air passengers in the 2012-2013 period among EU hubs.

During that timeframe, 10.7 million passengers used the international airport in 2013 - a rise of 11.3 percent over the previous year, according to statistics published by Eurostat.
In the running were Berlin’s Tegel airport (+7.9 percent) and the airport in Edinburgh (+6.3 percent).
On a national scale, air travel to and from Poland grew by a steady 6.8 percent in 2013 over the previous year. This placed Poland in fifth place in the European Union.
The leading country was Luxembourg, which saw air passengers increase by 14.5 percent in 2013. The largest drop was experienced by Estonia with a drop of 11.1 percent. (rg/jb)
