“We expect employment at outsourcing centres in Poland to rise by 20,000 to 170,000 jobs,” PAIiIZ deputy head, Monika Piątkowska said.

Job growth in the industry will continue at an annual pace of 20% in the years to come, she said.

The outsourcing industry is also spreading to smaller cities, she said. To date, most of Poland’s 600 outsourcing firms have been based at large university cities such as Warsaw, Kraków or Wrocław.

Poland’s biggest competitor in the industry is India, where labour costs are much lower.

Among Poland’s strengths is the pool of workers fluent in obscure European languages, she said. Polish call centres work in 40 languages. (an)
