The funds are part of a budget until 2020, Education Minister Joanna Kluzik-Rostkowska told a conference in Katowice.

“There is a real need for the reconstruction of higher education. In the 2013/14 scholastic year, 51 percent of junior high school graduates went to high schools. This school year, this percentage decreased by four percentage points, and amounted to 47 percent. This is a sign that it is high time to step up our drive for vocational education,” Kluzik-Rostowska said.

The head of the Katowice Special Economic Zone, Piotr Wojaczek, said that
“Employers should inform authorities on what kind of employees they will need in the future, and they do not do that.”

“If we ask them to do so, they complain that we are giving them extra work,” Wojaczek added. (rg)
