The German carmaker, Europe’s largest, is planning to roll out 174,000 automobiles from its plant in Poznań this year, slightly less than in 2014.

Half of the production run will be made up of the new VW Caddy model, which was unveiled last month. The first Caddy, now in its 4th generation, will roll off in May.

Last year, Volkswagen’s Poznań factory produced over 175,500 cars, more than 4,600 over the previous year.

In 2015, VW predicts to produce a number just shy of last year’s production.

The Poznań plant is the only place in the world where the best-selling Caddy will be assembled. The introduction followed a EUR 23 million investment in the plant.

"These [investments] were both necessary in expanding and adapting the production line as well as providing a training program for employees,” VW Poznań CEO Jens Ocksen. (rg)
