The company will double the number of workers at the IT centre from 100 to 200 by the end of 2015. The majority of positions are thought to be for IT specialists, although there will also be some managerial jobs available.

The centre in Kraków will focus on creating and implementing IT solutions for GE Healthcare’s operations around the world, for instance for patient monitoring systems or for medical diagnostics.

Beata Stelmach, CEO of GE in Poland and Baltics, commented that this IT centre is one of GE Healthcare’s most important investments in both Poland and the Central and Eastern Europe region.

The centre is expected to help GE Healthcare develop its own IT solutions as previously it has relied on outsourcing this type of work. GE Healthcare as a whole is currently investing USD 2 billion a year [EUR 1.9 billion] in new healthcare-related technologies a year. (sl/rg)
