Producers expect record sales in 2015. In the first three months of the year as many as 3.1 million units of so-called large white goods rolled off production lines. That figure was about 17 percent more than in the same period last year.

Production throughout the whole of 2014 exceeded 20.1 million – a 13 percent increase year-on-year.

In addition, factories produced over six million small household appliances – stand mixers, vacuum cleaners, food processors etc.

Still in 2005, domestic production of white goods did not exceed 10 million units a year.

However, in the coming months, the industry could take a low as the strong dollar increases the price of the raw materials like plastics and steel.

In addition, in February the Polish government approved a draft bill on electronic waste, which forces sellers to accept of old electric devices from consumers. The cost of this will translate into higher costs for consumers, experts warn. (rg)
