The exports of milk increased by almost 27 percent over the previous year, while cream increased by 17 percent.

The value of the dairy exports was EUR 267 million, and the bulk was sent to Germany – 233 metric tonnes of milk and cream, an increase of 26.2 percent over the previous year.

The Foundation of Assistance Programmes for Agriculture (FAPA) said that 61 percent of milk and cream exports went to Germany last year.

In second place in terms of export destinations was Belarus, to which the export of dairy products had been almost non-existent in previous years. Belarus purchased 25,400 thousand metric tonnes of liquid milk and cream for a total of EUR 13.2 million.

Exports to this country increased as a result of the introduction of the Russian trade embargo. (rg)
