1 million copies of 'The Witcher 3' sold prior to release

The Polish company behind gaming series The Witcher has revealed that 1 million copies of the latest instalment have already been sold a week prior to the official release.

“A million copies in pre-orders testifies to the global strength of the brand we created,” commented Adam Kiciński, CEO of CD Projekt Red, in a press release.
The company is touting 'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt', as “the most spectacular production in the history of Polish gaming.”
The series, which is based on the novels by fantasy novelist Andrzej Sapkowski, follows the adventures of Geralt, a monster-hunter with superhuman powers.
The newest instalment is being released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on 19 May. (nh)
