FinMin: Poland working on a timetable of new financial laws

The Ministry of Finance will continue work on new laws, regardless of the change of the President of the Republic, Finance Minister Mateusz Szczurek said.

Szczurek told a conference on Monday that the government is in charge of the budget for the coming years.
“My duty is to construct a budget that is responsible, while at the same time pro-development, and this is the how it’s going to be. In this respect, the change in presidency will not change much in how the fundamental philosophy in how the budget is prepared,” Finance Minister Szczurek explained.
“The legislative calendar of the Finance Ministry includes a whole series of laws relating to the regulation of financial markets. Some of these are related to the implementation of EU directives,” the Minister added, saying that these deadlines are set by European authorities, and work on meeting them is constant.
Conservative candidate Andrzej Duda won the second round of the presidential election, and will take take on the duties as president of the Republic on 6 August. (rg)
