Scripps Networks Interactive has been given the green light to takeover Polish broadcaster TVN, the country’s consumer watchdog said on Wednesday.

The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) said that it’s analysis into the deal “showed that the [merger] will have an impact on the TV advertising market. It will lead to a restriction in competition, however.”

Scripps wants to purchase a 100 percent stake in N-Media which fully owns broadcaster TVN. The transaction would be completed through Scripp’s UK subsidiary Southbank Media.

“The two companies’ combined market position comes thanks in large measure to the strength of N-Vision, while Southbank’s market share is marginal. Following the acquisition, Southbank Media will compete on the media market mainly with Telewizja Polska and Cyfrowy Polsat, both Polish mass media companies,” the UOKiK report on Wednesday read.
