According to data published by Poland's Central Statistical Office (GUS), visitors from over the border spent PLN 8.4 billion in the first quarter of 2015, an increase of 7.5 percent since the same period in 2014.

The sum also represents an over ten percent increase compared with the close of 2014.

The most frequent visitors are from Germany (who account for 45.5 percent of border crossings by land), with even petrol cheaper for Germans on the Polish side of the border.

According to Eurostat, food, clothing, cars and electronic devices are cheaper in Poland than anywhere else in the European Union. (nh)
