Polish supercomputer among world’s best

The Prometheus supercomputer at Kraków’s AGH University of Science and Technology is the 49th most powerful computer in the world.

The ranking was released by the TOP500 project.

The Prometheus machine is the most powerful Polish computer ever built. It weighs 30 metric tonnes and fits in 15 server cases.

It has a computing power of over 1,262 TFLOP/S, with almost 41,500 cores.

In comparison the world’s fastest computer according to the list is the MilkyWay-2, a supercomputer at the National Super Computer Center in Guangzhou, China, which measures in at 33,863 TFLOP/S with 3.12 million cores.
