"The OPZZ reiterates the call for the government to raise the unemployment benefit to the minimum subsistence level, ie. to PLN 1,057 (about EUR 240), which would allow Poland to meet its obligations under the European Social Charter," Guz wrote in an open letter to Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz.
Guz reiterated the union’s position on raising unemployment benefit made in March, which the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy declined "due to the economic situation."
In the letter OPZZ note data that show the Labour Fund has sufficient resources of over PLN 4.1 billion to spend on unemployment benefits.
The monthly dole is currently PLN 823.60 for the first three months and PLN 646.70 for the next three months. (jh)
