Meanwhile, Poles who have settled in the UK on a permanent basis are earning on average GBP 1,400 per month.

Poles in the UK work mostly in industry (25 percent), the hotel trade (20 percent), construction (8 percent), healthcare (7 percent), as well as education and administration (5 percent).

The main exodus of Poles to Great Britain began in 2004, when Poland joined the European Union. The 2011 UK census found that close to 600,000 Poles were living in Britain at that time.

The average net monthly wage for Poles in 2014 was PLN 2,700.(nh/rk)
