As part of the agreement, Polish food company Maspex Wadowice will take over three production plants in Vatra Dornei, Timisoara and Giurgiu.

The deal, which is for an as of yet undisclosed sum, must now be formally approved by Romania's Office for the Protection of Competition and Consumers.

Maspex Wadowice, which owns popular Polish brands such as Tymbark, Łowicz, Lubella and Kotlin, is not new to the Romanian market.

In 2007, it bought Romanian pasta company and in 2013, both Salatini and Capollini, producers of crackers and pretzels respectively.

The group also has a strong presence in Hungary and Bulgaria, and is active in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Russia. (nh/rk)
