“We respond to the needs of Polish entrepreneurs,” said the head of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ), Sławomir Majman, referring to the Polish government's programme meant to boost business cooperation with Africa.

During a conversation with journalists, Majman also mentioned that tractor producer Ursus is one example of a Polish investor successfully operating on the Ethiopian market. The company benefited from the support of the Go Africa government programme.

Ursus was awarded a contract to produce, supply and service 3,000 tractors. To this end, it launched a tractor assembly plant in Ethiopia in May 2015.

Ethiopia's position is getting stronger on the African map of investment attractiveness, PAIiIZ said.

According to the latest data provided by UNCTAD, between 2010 and 2013, the Polish FDI inflow to Ethiopia quadrupled and in 2013 amounted to USD 953 million.

Sectors that are of particular interest to Polish investors in Ethiopia are – according PAIiIZ’s Majman – construction, mining and food processing. (rg/rk)
