The distinctions were awarded by the Business Center Club at a Tuesday ceremony in Warsaw, held under the patronage of the Polish Economy Ministry. Deputy prime minister Janusz Piechociński, attending the event, handed over diplomas jointly with BCC head Marek Goliszewski.

In his speech, Piechociński stressed the importance of export growth and exploring new markets. "It is necessary to secure more jobs, to draw and concentrate innovative industries in Poland in the era of globalisation, so that new, advanced-technology branches usher us into an era of global competition," the economy minister said.

The Ambassadors of the Polish Economy, now in its seventh year, is a competition recognising entrepreneurs who crack foreign markets and foster a positive image of Polish business abroad. Prizes are given in four categories: exporter, foreign business partner, European brand and 21st-century innovator. (aba/rk)
