Poland ranks second in the world, after the US, in boat and yacht production, a fact which, the Director of the Polish Chamber of Marine Industry and Water Sports, Sebastian Nietupski, deems as a “very good condition”.

In 2015, Poland’s yacht producers are expected to earn over PLN 1 billion (USD 250 million) and produce about 17,000 boats.

“We are noticing a significant increase in the interest of new yacht purchases in Poland and Europe,” Nietupski stated.

The industry points out an increasing interest in luxury watercraft made in Poland.

The most popular sellers are vessels with a maximum length of nine metres, and with out-board motors.

Recent Eurostat data shows that about 50 percent of Polish boat exports stay within the EU, and 30 percent are purchased by customers from other countries.

The Polish Chamber of Marine Industry and Water Sports estimate that in total, around 900 companies profit from the Polish ship-making industry. (ua/rg/rk)
