"Winter is a period in which unemployment rises because of seasonal factors. It's a trend seen for many years," Family, Labour and Social Policy Minister Elżbieta Rafalska said in a statement.

Last year, job centers received notifications of almost 1.3 million job offers, nearly 17 percent more than in 2014, she added.

Registered unemployment in January was 1.6 percentage points lower than a year ago, when it stood at 11.9 percent. (pk)
