“From 30 April 2016, we will pay less for roaming calls. This is partly thanks to Polish initiatives to standardise and reduce the cost of connections between European Union countries,” the Office of Consumer Electronics (UKE) said in a statement.

UKE added that calculating the fees while calling from abroad will be “simpler” and “also brings about a reduction in roaming prices”.

“The new cap is set at EUR 0.01 (excluding VAT) per minute of call received, almost five times cheaper than the [earlier] cap of EUR 0.05 per minute (excluding VAT). This completes the set of maximum roaming surcharges that consumers will pay from 30 April 2016 until June 2017 when roaming surcharges are finally abolished in the EU,” the European Commission explained on its website.
