Poland is lagging behind in improving digitalization, the Rzeczpospolita daily has reported, citing the European Commission’s latest European Digital Progress Report.

The document says that while Poland has made some headway in broadband coverage, the use of the Internet, the integration of digital technology by businesses and the pace of progress is sluggish at best compared to other EU countries.

The country is also trailing behind in online public services, and suffers from a consistently low level of digital skills, as the number of Poles with at least basic competencies - 40 percent - is below the EU average of 55 percent.

Overall, Poland ranks 22nd out of the 28 EU member states, the report said. (aba/pk)
