The gathering, geared towards boosting business links between the two countries, was attended by Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammed Jawad Zarif, currently paying a two-day visit to Poland.

The participants of the forum pointed to a great potential for bilateral economic collaboration in a wide array of sectors.

“Iran was subjected to sanctions for many years, which is why it now needs everything,” deputy head of the Polish Chamber of Commerce Marek Kłoczko said. Poland, in turn, could benefit from Iran’s abundant natural resources, such as crude oil and natural gas, Kłoczko added.

Iran’s drive to foster economic ties with Europe has been ongoing since the country agreed to curb its nuclear programme last year. The move prompted the international community to lift sanctions against Iran and put an end to decades of its isolation on the global arena.

In recent years Polish-Iranian trade has reached an annual rate of USD 70 mln. (aba)
