In the first quarter of 2015 alone, Polish employers filed almost 310,000 so-called “statements of work” for Ukrainians. The document allows foreigners to be legally employed in the country for a period of six months a year.

The number is nearly a third more than over the same period last year, the Puls Biznesu daily has said.

Throughout all of 2015, Ukrainians were offered more than 760,000 jobs. That figure was over 95 percent of all the jobs offered to foreigners.

Meanwhile, work is in progress to start a trade union for Ukrainian workers in the country.

According to the Polityka weekly, a founding meeting has already been held which selected the Organising Committee. The group has already submitted all the relevant documents to the National Court Register. (rg)
