Forty-eight per cent of software installed in Poland is unlicensed, according to the Global Software Survey by the Business Software Alliance.

Computer equipment with unlicensed software is even sold in public tenders – according to BSA, in 2015 and 2016 there have been over 20 instances of Polish government institutions being duped into buying counterfeit software.
Some experts say that this is because many public tenders are mainly focused on price.
"A price much lower than the market price of a product should be a signal to carefully verify the source of a product," warned Bartłomiej Witucki, a BSA representative in Poland, especially as unlicensed software may contain malicious programs.
The Business Software Alliance is a software makers' trade group established by the Microsoft Corporation in 1988. (mol/pk)
