The Polish economy grew 3.1 percent year on year in the second quarter, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Tuesday.

The estimate, based on seasonally unadjusted figures, was in line with an early estimate released on 12 August that was slightly below the 3.3 percent growth expected by many.
Some economists had argued the second-quarter figure meant that it would not be possible to reach 3.8 percent growth this year, as forecast in the government’s budget.
The latest estimate shows that in the second quarter of 2016 seasonally adjusted GDP grew 0.9 percent in real terms compared to the previous quarter, and was 3.1 percent up on the same period last year.
