Hundreds of thousands of Poles could return home from the UK over the next 5-10 years, once the United Kingdom leaves the EU, said Polish deputy Prime Minister Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

During a recent visit to London, Morawiecki told BBC Radio 4 that hate crimes in the UK against Polish minorities might not be directly related to these decisions, but could pose a “question mark for Polish families in Great Britain”.
He said that “Poland has very low level of unemployment, [has] highly educated staff, and businesses are growing as nowhere else in Europe.”
Commenting on the murder of a Polish national in Harlow in the south east of England, Morawiecki stressed that it was “very sad event” and hopes that “never again will it happen”.
On Thursday, Poland’s Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski spoke with his British counterpart Boris Johnson about the recent racist attacks on Poles living in the UK.
Waszczykowski said Johnson had assured him that the UK government does not accept the hate action against migrants and it will do everything to protect Poles and other foreigners against aggression. (rg)
