The head of Coal Holding, a company owned by Balamara, told PAP that the drilling started in Ludwikowice, southern Poland, at the end of 2013. “The work was carried out in three stages. Now we are finishing the ninth, the last of the wells,” Andrzej Zibrow, CEO of Coal Holding, said

According to previous geological documentation, which is now being updated, the resources covered by the exploration license are 180 million tons of coal. “According to our analysis this bed is even richer,” Zibrow said, adding that the company does not know how many of these resources “will be suitable.”

Balamara’s website says the company currently operates five projects on two continents. The total area of its three current projects in Poland cover 165.3 square kilometres. (rg)
