Among those expected at the three-day meeting, which starts on Wednesday evening, are European Commission Vice President Frans Timmermans, European Council President Donald Tusk, government ministers and the head of Poland’s Solidarity trade union, Piotr Duda.

The leading theme of this year’s meeting is “The Future of Work. Realities, dreams and delusions.”

More than 1,000 participants are expected at the conference, which will discuss issues such as the consequences of technological change for the labour market.

According to the conference organizers, data collected by Britain’s Oxford University suggests that within the next two decades, 47% of Americans will lose their jobs as a result of being replaced by automated processes.

Poland has been named as one of 15 high-risk countries particularly susceptible to the loss of the simplest jobs amid this global trend. (pk)
