The strike at the German airline was expected to affect 14 flights to Warsaw and eight flights to Kraków, in Poland’s south.

The walk-out has forced Lufthansa to cancel flights out of Germany, including more than 80 intercontinental connections.

The Vereinigung Cockpit union, which represents Lufthansa pilots, announced that the strike, which started at midnight on Tuesday, would be extended but would affect “only short-haul” flights on Friday.

The protest is the 14th strike over pay organized by the pilots’ union since April 2014. (vb/pk)
