The building, which was announced on Wednesday, would be higher than the 306 metres of London’s The Shard.

Warsaw’s Varso Tower will be constructed in the city centre, just a stone’s throw away from the current record holder in Poland, the communist-era Palace of Culture and Science.

The 53-floor building and two smaller adjacent towers will provide the city with an extra 140,000 sqm of office space. The other two buildings in the complex will be 80 and 90 metres high respectively.

The development is expected to be completed in 2020. (rg)
