Poland announces crackdown on transfer of untaxed profits abroad

Morawiecki said that in the coming future, the ministry will start investigating “the transfer abroad of profits on which tax was not paid in this country”.

He added that the Poland would continue its campaign against large-scale avoidance of VAT, which has already generated “our first successes”.

“We have brought in 11 times more [revenue] than our predecessors,” Morawiecki said.

Following its election in late 2015, the Law and Justice (PiS) government promised to combat tax fraud in a bid to help fund a swathe of promises, which include monthly benefits for families with children, lowering retirement age and a lower tax-free threshold on income. (vb/rg)
