According to Poland’s Central Statistical Office, the average gross wage in the sector stood at PLN 4,277 (EUR 990, USD 1,055) a month.
Average employment in the private sector increased 4.5 percent year on year.
Krzysztof Wołowicz, chief economist at BPS TFI, said the hike in wages follows new rules on pay, with the minimum rate rising to PLN 13 an hour for people on freelance contracts and to PLN 2,000 gross a month for those on permanent contracts.
The Central Statistical Office figures relate to companies that employ more than nine people.
