The number of jobs on offer to Poles has shot up in the country’s southern neighbour, which has up to 100,000 vacancies, the Polish daily reported.

The Czech Republic is becoming more attractive for Polish job seekers because it is geographically close and roads in the south of Poland are improving, the paper cited Magdalena Zawadzka-Wojtaszek of the InterKadra job agency in Kraków as saying.

She added that the most jobs are available in Czech automotive plants such as Škoda Auto and in the construction industry.

Wages in the Czech Republic are attractive for Poles, Agata Zdybicka from the Work Service employment agency told Gazeta Polska Codziennie.

She was cited as saying that employers have for several years been struggling with a lack of workers in the Czech Republic, where unemployment is only 3.8 percent, according to Eurostat data.
