The fair is being held in Germany between 24 and 28 April. Poland is its official partner country this year and has been promoting itself under the slogan "Smart means Poland".

Gowin, who is also Minister of Science and Higher Education, said: "Our German partners, but also scientists and entrepreneurs from all over the world visiting the fair see the new face of Poland - the face of a young Poland, dynamic, creative, very modern and very innovative.

“Especially with regard to the achievements of young Polish scientists and entrepreneurs, we are in the top league internationally," he added.

Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydło and German Chancellor Angela Merkel opened the Hannover fair on Sunday.

Merkel said: “I hope that Poland's presence at the Hannover fair will open a new chapter in Polish-German cooperation and that these contacts will become closer and better.”

Over 200 Polish companies are taking part in this year's fair.
