Poland on Thursday became the fourth country, after UK, the Netherlands and Switzerland, in which Ikea is selling such products.

The photovoltaic panels are difficult to assemble and Ikea decided it will make an exception from its “assembly at home” policy and will install the panels in the homes of its customers.

The price varies depending on the size of the panels. The Gazeta Wyborcza daily reported that the average price of a ready-to-use solar panel is about PLN 20,000 (EUR 4,000).

The purchase of the panels can be co-financed by Polish local government authorities, which can subsidise as much as 40 percent of the total amount, Gazeta Wyborcza said.

In 2016, the number of Polish houses equipped with solar panels increased from 3,000 to 10,000.
