Deputy PM: Poland’s role in European logistics growing

Speaking in the town Zduńska Wola, Morawiecki said that the area has great potential to expand as a logistics hub due to its location in the centre of Poland.

“Poland is developing a bigger role within Europe logistics,” Morawiecki said, adding that the government plans to build infrastructure running from the north to the south of the country, including gas and rail connections.

He said that an airport planned by the government in central Poland will be “not far” from Zduńska Wola, although a site has not yet been chosen.

Morawiecki, who also serves as Development and Finance Minister, added that co-operation between local entrepreneurs can lead to a “significant improvement” in the area over the next few years.

“And unemployment, the level of economic growth and wages – because in the end this is what we are after – will be satisfactory for the local population,” he said.

Morawiecki, who is in charge of the economic plans of the Law and Justice (PiS) government in Poland, is currently implementing an ambitious plan to inject over PLN 1 trillion into the economy. (rg/pk)
