On average, every foreign tourist spends PLN 1,800 (USD 490, EUR 430) in this country.

"Although it is Germans who are most likely to visit Poland, the Chinese are top of the list when it comes to spending," said Karolina Dawidziuk , a spokeswoman for the head of Poland’s Central Statistical Office (GUS).

She added that the average Chinese citizen spends more than PLN 7,800 in Poland.

In second place are Americans, who spend about PLN 5,600 each.

Finns are in third place in terms of spending. At the bottom of the list are Czechs and Slovaks.

Last year 17 million tourists, including 6 million Germans, came to Poland.
