Polish energy giant to enter solar power market: report

Poland’s biggest energy company, PGE, plans to enter the solar power market, the Rzeczpospolita daily has reported.

According to the daily, the company aims to build solar power farms.
The investment could cost PGE up to PLN 3 million (EUR 700,000) per megawatt, Rzeczpospolita said.
An expert quoted by the paper said it could take up to three years for the company to develop its infrastructure to achieve the desired total of 100 megawatts of power.
The daily added that solar energy would fit nicely into the company’s investment plan, under which the company aims to produce 25 percent of Poland’s green energy by 2030.
The company now owns roughly ten percent of the market, thanks to biomass energy and 529-megawatt wind farms in its portfolio, Rzeczpospolita reported.
