The WSE company’s shareholders chose Dietl as the exchange’s new CEO in June, but he still needed the green light from the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) to take over the reins.

On Tuesday, the KNF said it “unanimously approved a change in the composition of the WSE management board based on appointing Marek Dietl to the board and assigning to him the position of its chairman.”

Dietl has a CV that includes stints as a financial advisor to the Polish president, a member of the Sobieski Institute think tank and an expert at the Business Centre Club.

He has previously said he would work to grow the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

Dietl has been a member of the WSE's supervisory board in the past. (gs/pk)
