According to the daily, more than PLN 66 billion (EUR 15 billion) will be spent on railway infrastructure in the country by 2023.

The Polish State Railways (PKP) has already signed 286 new deals worth over PLN 14 billion (EUR 3.3 billion) since the beginning of this year, the paper said.

The state-run company aims to modernise railways connecting Poland’s capital Warsaw with other big cities, including Olsztyn in the northeast, Lublin in the southeast, and Poznań in the west, according to the paper.

The plan also envisions improving a railway connection from Warsaw to Berlin via Poznań, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna said. (tf/gs)
